TallyPrime
Choose it if…
You mainly need accounts, GST and inventory for one office, and want the lowest cost.
MyRecords
Choose it if…
Sales, stock, payroll, CRM and support live in separate tools or spreadsheets, and you want one system.
The short answer
TallyPrime is a low-cost, offline-first accounting and GST package that most Indian accountants already know; a multi-user Gold licence costs ₹24,300 a year or ₹67,500 once. MyRecords costs more because it is a different thing: accounts, GST, stock, POS, HR, payroll, CRM and support in one browser-based system with unlimited users, set up and supported for you on your own server or MyRecords Cloud. If you only need books and GST for one office, Tally is the sensible choice.

| What matters | MyRecords | TallyPrime |
|---|---|---|
| How you pay | Quoted for your business: a one-time setup, then MyRecords Cloud monthly or a yearly AMC on your own server. You pay for the modules you choose, never per user. | Licence by edition: Silver for one PC, Gold for several PCs on a network. Rent it monthly or yearly, or buy a lifetime licence plus yearly TSS renewal. |
| Users | Unlimited, in the office or away from it. | Gold covers any number of users on the office network. Remote users need Cloud Access, from ₹600 per user a month. |
| Where it runs | In the browser, on a dedicated system on MyRecords Cloud or your own server. Works in any phone browser and installs to the home screen. | Windows desktop software that works offline by default. Remote use through TallyPrime Cloud Access on Oracle's cloud. |
| GST returns | Prepares GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B files from your books for upload, and matches GSTR-2B from the downloaded file. With a GST Suvidha Provider (GSP) account connected, it also fetches GSTR-2B and sends IMS actions. Filing from inside MyRecords is not built yet. GSTR-9 is not built yet. | GST returns with direct GSTR-1 upload, GSTR-2A and 2B reconciliation and IMS actions (connected features need an active TSS). Release 7.2 adds GSTR-9 export. |
| e-Invoice and e-way bill | Creates the e-invoice and e-way bill upload files and records the IRN and e-way bill number. Generating them from inside MyRecords works once you connect a GSP account or the portals' own API login. | Generates e-invoices and e-way bills from inside TallyPrime with an active TSS. |
| Stock | Warehouses, batches with expiry, serial numbers, reorder levels, stock ageing and barcode scanning. | Inventory with godowns, batches and stock reports is part of TallyPrime. |
| Payroll | Pay runs with PF ECR and ESI upload files, professional tax for 20 states and Puducherry, payslips and wage registers. Form 16 is not built yet. | Payroll is built into TallyPrime. |
| CRM, support tickets, team chat | Included as modules: leads and pipeline, support tickets with SLAs, and team chat, sharing the same customer records. | Not the focus of TallyPrime, which covers accounts, inventory, GST and payroll. Other needs are met by separate tools or partner add-ons. |
| Banking | Import a bank statement (CSV or Excel) and accept the suggested matches, line by line or with Auto-match. No automatic bank feed yet. | Connected banking with Axis, SBI, ICICI and Kotak: balances, statements and payments. |
| AI | AI Assistant add-on: answers from your own records with your permissions, prepares a record for you to confirm, reads a supplier bill into a draft and explains any page. MyRecords Cloud includes a monthly AI budget; on your own server, your own AI key or prepaid credits from us. | Docs by Ira reads invoices and creates draft entries for you to review (TallyPrime 7.1); 100 pages free on the first TSS renewal, then ₹200 for 100 pages. |
| Setup and support | We configure the system, move masters and opening balances, train your team and support you under the cloud plan or an AMC. | Free expert assistance and installation support come with the purchase; ongoing local help comes through a Tally partner. |
| Track record | Launched 1 Nov 2026; first customers are joining through the pilot programme. | On the market for decades; Tally says more than 2.7 million businesses in India use TallyPrime. |

Questions
Questions people ask
Something else on your mind?
Ask us anything about modules, a quote or moving across. A person from our team replies.
Ask a question01Can MyRecords import our Tally data?
Yes, in part. From Tally's XML exports it brings across customers and suppliers (your Sundry Debtors and Creditors), stock groups, units, godowns and items with HSN, opening stock as a draft count, BOMs as drafts, and Day Book vouchers as journal entries, each checked before anything is saved. We load your chart of accounts and opening balances from your trial balance. It has been tested on Tally's own sample export, not yet on a client's data, so every move starts with a dry run on yours. How the move works.
02Can we keep Tally for the books and use MyRecords for the rest?
You can, but you lose the main benefit: one set of records. Most businesses that move run both side by side for one to two weeks, then switch.
03Is MyRecords cheaper than Tally?
No, not for accounts alone. It covers more of the business, includes setup and support, and has no per-user fees when many people need access. It is customised to your requirements, so ask us for a quote.
04Does MyRecords work offline like Tally?
Only in part. Point-of-sale bills (while the till page stays open), the shop-floor screen, attendance check-in, maintenance visits, asset checks and bill photos for Read a bill keep working offline. The rest needs an internet connection to your server.
05Our CA uses Tally. Can they use MyRecords?
Yes. “Invite your CA” gives them an access pack (Accounts by default, or one you choose) that ends on a date you pick, at no extra cost, and the GST return files are ready for them to check and upload. If they keep books in Tally, journal entries, purchase invoices, payroll runs and expense claims export as Tally XML.
