Tally alternatives in India, in 2026.

Five options, what each costs, and when staying on Tally is the right call.

The short answer

Stay on TallyPrime if you mainly need accounts and GST for one office. Look at Zoho Books for self-serve cloud accounting, BUSY or Marg for low-cost desktop software, Odoo for an all-apps suite priced per user, and MyRecords for one system covering accounts, stock, payroll, CRM and support, with unlimited users and a setup done for you.

Stay or move

Staying can be the right call.

Check both lists before you look at any other product, ours included.

Stay on Tally if…

  • You mainly need accounts, GST and inventory, for one office.
  • Your accountant or CA works in Tally and the books are in good shape.
  • You need GSTR-9, GST returns filed from inside the software, or e-invoicing today without connecting another account.
  • Your office often works without internet.
  • The yearly cost matters more than anything else: Gold rents for ₹24,300 a year.

Signs you have outgrown it

  • Stock, payroll, sales follow-up or customer complaints live in spreadsheets next to Tally.
  • People outside the office need the books, and remote access is a workaround.
  • Branches send data to head office instead of working in one live system.
  • The same customer or item is typed into three different tools.

Ask a question
01What is the best Tally alternative?

There is no single best one. For self-serve cloud accounting, Zoho Books. For low-cost desktop software with strong GST and stock, BUSY or Marg. For an all-apps suite priced per user, Odoo. For one system covering the whole business with unlimited users, set up for you, MyRecords.

02Is there a free Tally alternative?

Zoho Books has a free plan for businesses with turnover up to ₹25 lakh, and Odoo has a free plan for one app. MyRecords has no free plan or self sign-up; we show you the live system on a call, and can give you a demo sign-in to explore it yourself.

03Can I move my Tally data to another system?

Usually yes: masters, ledgers and opening balances move well; full history is harder. From Tally’s XML, MyRecords brings in customers and suppliers, stock items with HSN and opening stock, BOMs as drafts, and Day Book vouchers as journals, each checked before anything is saved; we load the chart of accounts and opening balances from your trial balance. How the move works.

04Should we run both systems for a while?

Yes. Run both for one to two weeks and switch only when the figures agree. We go live when three days in a row reconcile with no manual fix.
