How it works

Six steps, start to finish.

In short

A work order in MyRecords makes one batch of a product from its bill of materials. On save it lists the materials and the warehouse each comes from; you reserve them, move them to work in progress, and each operation runs as a job card you start, pause, resume and complete. Finishing makes the manufacture entry, which on submit books the finished goods at their real cost and takes the materials out of stock.

  1. Step 1

    Create the work order

From a BOM (Create work order), a sales order or a production plan. The materials and their source warehouse are filled in from the BOM.

  2. Step 2

    Plan it

Plan this order sets the quantity and start date, times each operation and shows what is short. Request material raises a request for it.

  3. Step 3

    Reserve and move materials

Reserve stock so nothing else uses it, then Start (transfer materials) moves it to work in progress. Print the material issue slip.

  4. Step 4

    Run the job cards

Create job cards makes one per operation. Start, pause, resume and complete each from the record or the Shop floor page; time logs and pause reasons are kept.

  5. Step 5

    Finish

Finish (receive finished goods) makes the manufacture entry for the quantity made; submit it at once or keep it as a draft to check. On submit it books the goods into the finished goods warehouse and uses up the materials. It is refused while an operation is still open.

  6. Step 6

    Check the result

The Production tab shows made against planned, process loss, scrap and the cost planned against actual.

Questions

Questions people ask

Something else on your mind?

Ask us anything about it. A person from our team replies.

Ask a question
01Can I make a work order for a sales order?

Yes. Create it from the sales order, or plan several sales orders together in a production plan that makes the work orders.

02What if a material is short?

Plan this order shows what is short before you start, and the Manufacturing home lists what is short in the next 14 days with Raise material request.

03Can one work order run through several workstations?

Yes. Each operation in the BOM gets its own job card at its own workstation, timed separately.

04Can I finish part of the quantity?

Yes. Finish in parts as goods are made; the work order shows made against planned until it is Completed.

05Does finishing post to the books?

Yes, when the manufacture entry is submitted. It moves the stock value from materials and work in progress to finished goods in the same step; a draft posts nothing.
