How it works
Three steps, start to finish.
In short
MyRecords creates the e-invoice upload file from your submitted invoices in the IRP's schema, checks it for what the portal refuses, and records the IRN, Ack no. and signed QR you bring back from the e-invoice portal. The IRN and QR then print on the GST tax invoice. Generating the IRN straight from MyRecords on the portal's API is built and works once you connect your e-invoice API login, from NIC or a GSP. E-invoicing applies once your aggregate turnover crosses ₹5 crore in any year since 2017-18.
1
Step 1
Make the upload file
Tick up to 50 submitted invoices, credit and debit notes of one GSTIN and press IRP JSON. MyRecords checks them first and builds one file in the IRP's format.
2
Step 2
Upload on the IRP
Upload the file on the e-invoice portal's bulk upload. The portal returns the IRN, Ack no. and signed QR for each invoice.
3
Step 3
Record the IRN
On the invoice's e-Invoice tab, press Record IRN and type the IRN and Ack no., or paste the portal's response as it is. The invoice shows "Generated" and its print carries the IRN and QR.

01
Checks before uploadWorks today
Your GSTIN, 6-digit PIN codes on both addresses, HSN codes of 6 or 8 digits, a GST rate the IRP accepts, a round-off above ₹99.99 and a future date are checked before the file is built.
02
Who needs an IRNWorks today
Switch e-invoicing on for the company with its start date. Sales to unregistered customers, opening invoices and invoices dated before the start date are left out. The e-Invoices tab of GST returns lists the rest as Pending, Generated, Failed or Cancelled.
03
The 30-day limitWorks today
With turnover of ₹10 crore or more, the IRP takes an invoice only within 30 days of its date. Tick the setting, and older invoices are flagged with what to do.
04
Errors from the portalWorks today
Paste an error response and the invoice is marked Failed with the portal's own message, so you know what to fix. Accounts Managers get a notification for each refusal.
05
Cancel within 24 hoursWorks today
An IRN cancelled on the portal is recorded only within the 24-hour window the portal allows. After that, the answer is a credit note.
06
E-way bill with the IRNWorks today
The e-invoice file carries the transport details, and an e-way bill number in the portal's response is stored on the invoice.
07
IRN straight from MyRecordsOnce connected
Generate on portal makes and cancels IRNs on the portal's API, in bulk too, and can get the IRN as each invoice is submitted and retry waiting ones at night. It works once you connect your e-invoice API login, through NIC direct access or a GSP.

One part of one system.
E-invoicing uses the same books, customers, items and people as every other module, so nothing is typed twice.
It creates the e-invoice upload file and records the IRN you get back from the portal. Generating the IRN directly on the portal's API is built and works once you connect your own e-invoice API login, from NIC or a GSP.
02Who has to issue e-invoices?
Businesses whose aggregate turnover has crossed ₹5 crore in any financial year from 2017-18, for B2B invoices, credit and debit notes and exports, under Notification 10/2023-Central Tax.
03Is there a time limit to report an e-invoice?
Yes, for turnover of ₹10 crore or more. From 1 Apr 2025 the IRP refuses invoices, credit notes and debit notes older than 30 days. MyRecords flags them once you tick the setting.
04Can I cancel an IRN?
Only within 24 hours of generating it, and not while an active e-way bill exists for it. Cancel it on the portal and record the cancellation in MyRecords, or cancel it from MyRecords once your API login is connected. After 24 hours, issue a credit note.
05Does the IRN show on the printed invoice?
Yes. The GST tax invoice prints the IRN, Ack no. and date, and the signed QR once they are recorded.
